Celebrating Life And Love:
Charlene Jones White was born on December 2nd, 1936, in Sweetwater, Texas, to the union of Charles Jones and Edna “Margaret” Jones, who preceded her in death. She was the second-eldest of six siblings. She grew up in a Christian home.
Charlene attended George Washington Carver High School. She was very active in extracurricular activities. She was a majorette and homecoming queen. Charlene married her high school sweetheart, Herbert Caldwell, and had her eldest son, Herbert Caldwell Jr. After 7 years of marriage, Charlene married her second husband, Ronald Tyler, and had a daughter, Demitra Tyler, and a son, Windell Tyler. After two years of marriage to Ronald, she divorced and moved to California, where she met her last husband, Hilton White Sr., and had two sons, Jeffrey White and Hilton White Jr.
Charlene was a beautiful, loving, caring woman who enjoyed life to the fullest. Charlene loved her family and would always be available for support, just a phone call away. Charlene enjoyed her tea in the morning and having conversations over the phone with her sisters and family. Charlene loved her Mercedes-Benz, which she always said would be her retirement car. She enjoyed her riding in her car even more when she was chauffeured around town by her daughter. Charlene was one of the first black women to purchase a home in Daly City, California.
When she moved to California, she attended John Adams Trade School and got a certificate in business. She worked 10+ years at California Dental Services in management. Charlene later attended San Francisco State University and received a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. She then established a new career as a Youth Guidance Counselor at San Francisco Juvenile Hall, where she later retired after 20 + years of service.
Charlene, as a young woman, had many hobbies. She enjoyed traveling, attending family celebrations, going to restaurants, event planning, writing short stories, baking, she also enjoyed watching and attending football and basketball games, and she especially loved her western movies and shows. Later in life, Charlene also enjoyed attending Cornerstone Baptist Church’s weekly services on live stream. She enjoyed Pastor Dr. Rodney Leggett’s sermons. Although she desired to attend services in person, but couldn’t due to health challenges, but she always felt comfort in the word of God.
