By Rachelle Resnick — What happens when best friends who have opposite personalities decide to live together? Chaos and laughter. Carson Valley Community Theatre’s production of Neil Simon’s The Odd Couple — Female Version opens this Friday at the CVIC Hall in Minden.

The show’s cast includes three Carson City residents and includes actors from Reno and Carson Valley as well.

“We are very fortunate to have such talented actors from across the region share their talents,” said director Tim Heitman, who is also a Carson City resident.

In the show, Olive Madison, an award-winning television producer and “one of the biggest slobs in the world,” decides to live with her best friend Florence Unger, a compulsively clean homemaker who has just learned that her husband wants a divorce.

The arrangement does not go well — in a very comical way.

“Although the play was written in 1985, the story is timeless,” said Diana Jones, who plays Olive. “At its core, the show is about loyalty and friendship.”

Shows are the next two weekends: July 18, 25, 26 at 7:30 p.m. and July 19, 20, 26 and 27 at 2 p.m.
