Every month, the Park Rangers offer various Ranger-Led programs that include educational opportunities, historical fun, and exciting adventures. All programs are offered for free and take place in one of the many Carson City parks and open space areas.
Online Registration is often required so Park Rangers have a proper head count. All programs are subject to cancellation due to Park Ranger availability; registered participants will be notified. You can find more information about each program by clicking here.
PARK RANGER LED TRIVIA
Test your trivia knowledge with the Carson City Park Rangers. Compete against each other in a 20-round trivia game for the chance to win a fabulous prize. Trivia topics will range from Nevada history, Carson City historical figures, wildlife, and more.
Date: Saturday, March 8, 2025
Time: 2:00pm – 3:30pm
Location: Board Room in the Community Center at Mills Park

BEAR WALK
Join the Park Rangers for an educational walk all about the black bears! While enjoying a walk along the paved paths around Long Ranch Park, you will gain a deeper understanding of these fascinating creatures and the ecosystem they call home.
The hike is considered “easy” under the IMBA Trail Rating system. Expect flat terrain for about 2 miles. Be sure to dress for the weather and bring plenty of water.

Time: 3:00pm – 4:30pm
Location: Long Ranch Park
Need to Know:
– Minors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult
– Dogs are allowed on leash
– Online registration is required by clicking here.
– If you or a family member needs it, Park Rangers has one Grit Freedom all-terrain wheelchair available. If you’d like to request use of this wheelchair during our program, email parkrangers@carson.org. This request is on a first come first serve basis.
GEOLOGY EXCURSION
Join the Carson City Park Rangere and geologist Tom Gray for an adventure that truly rocks! On this hike we will be discussing the geology of Nevada and Carson City and looking at some cool examples along the way as we hike the North Kings Loop trail at Kings Canyon.
The hike is considered “more difficult” according to the IMBA Trail Rating System. Expect some rocky and sandy terrain with an incline for about 2 miles. Dress for the weather; bring water and wear closed toe shoes.

Location: Kings Canyon

- Dogs are not allowed on this trail system, so please keep them at home
