Carson City deputies make arrests for alleged felony assault, disorderly conduct and DUI

A 42-year-old man was arrested Saturday for suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor affray, which is fighting in a public place and disturbing the peace causing fear among bystanders, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.

Another man was also arrested for misdemeanor affray. Deputies arrested John Widel, who had allegedly been fighting with the other man, in the area of East William Street and earlier near a bank on Stewart Street.

The other man, whom Widel was fighting with, said Widel waved the knife but didn’t use it, and that he was not hit or touched with the knife. The man who was also involved in the fight was told he was also being arrested for affray. The man became upset, calling the deputy an “ass****” and refused to say further, the report states.

A witness said he had watched two arguing on two separate occasions, including near the bank. He provided a witness statement. Another person also provided a witness statement. Bail for Widel: $15,000 and bail for the other man for misdemeanor affray: $1,137.

In other arrests:

— A 59-year-old man was arrested Friday, June 20 for suspicion of felony DUI third offense, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.

Following an investigation into a vehicle crash, deputies arrested Kevin Boss for suspicion of DUI. According to the report, at approximately 9:25 a.m. deputies were dispatched to the intersection of College Parkway and Research Way regarding a car crash. Dispatch advised that a Jeep and Honda were involved, blocking the travel lane.

Deputies arrived and met with the driver, Boss, standing at the passenger side door of a Honda with a female passenger who advised she was bleeding from the head.

A deputy asked the driver what happened, and could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person. He was asked if he had any alcoholic drinks. He replied no. The deputy observed the man had thick, slurred speech, the report states.

The deputy checked on the other driver and passenger of the other vehicle involved. They both said they had no injuries but mentioned the suspect driver had been tailgating them and when they stopped at the red light, the suspect driver failed to stop and then hit their vehicle, the report states.

The suspect driver was asked if he could fill out a statement. He said he could not because he did not have his glasses. As the deputy was standing next to the suspect driver, the deputy again smelled a strong odor of alcohol. The deputy asked him if they could check his eyes and he said yes. The deputy noticed he had red, watery eyes. The deputy asked if he would be willing to submit to standardized field sobriety tests. He said no, that he could not perform the tests. The deputy asked if he would submit to a preliminary breath tests. The suspect driver said no. He then said deputies could take him to jail, according to the report.

The deputy explained to the man that they were attempting to see if he was below the legal limit. The man told the deputy he would submit to a preliminary breath test. The result was .137, the deputy report states.

Due to the totality of circumstances, the odor of alcohol, the man’s red and watery eyes and thick slurred speech, he was cuffed and put in the back of a patrol vehicle.

The deputy read the man the request for evidentiary testing, which he consented to breath tests. The suspect driver told the officer he was having medical issues. The deputy asked if he wanted to go the hospital. The man said yes. He was then asked if he would consent to a blood test since he was going to the hospital. He said yes. The man was medically cleared from the hospital, taken to jail and booked for suspicion of driving under the influence third offense. Bail: $20,000.

— A 31-year-old Dayton woman was booked June 22 for a misdemeanor bench warrant issued August 19, 2023 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.

— A 41-year-old man was arrested June 20 for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, obstructing and resisting and being an ex-felon failure to register.

According to the report, a deputy made consensual contact with a man in a parking lot in the 3800 block of Highway 50 East. The man consented and provided his driver’s license and consented to a search of his vehicle. Located was a small dime bag with a white crystalline residue on it located in the center console of the vehicle. It tested positive for methamphetamine, the report states.

The deputy signaled to another deputy to place the man in handcuffs while they were finished securing the suspected methamphetamine. As the deputy began placing the man in handcuffs, he started pulling away and yelling, the report states.

Deputies assisted and attempted to grab his right arm but he kept pulling his arm away toward his chest. He then tried to gain control of both his arms and body pulling away from a deputy as an attempt to flee, the report states. Deputies then placed him on the ground in an attempt to gain physical control of him, the report states.

As the man went to the ground, he pulled both his arms toward his chest and continued to refuse to listen to verbal commands. The deputy had to utilize a taser in an attempt to gain compliance with the man, the report states.

Once deputies were able to gain physical control he was placed into cuffs. He had a brief bloody nose from physically resisting deputies, however he denied any medical treatment from the Carson City Fire Department. He was booked for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, obstructing and resisting and being an ex-felon failure to register. Bail: $2,500.

— A 28-year-old Carson City woman was booked June 20 for a misdemeanor bench warrant issued Nov. 27, 2024 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.

— A 41-year-old Carson City man was arrested June 21 for suspicion of disorderly conduct and gross misdemeanor unlawful act related to human excrement.
According to the booking report, deputies were called to a South Carson Street motel for a man who was passed out on a chair inside the lobby. Deputies woke him, where he began to mumble and speak incoherently, the report states.

While speaking the man had red watery eyes, slurred speech and had a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person. The man was asked if he wanted to go the hospital due to him being intoxicated and unable to care for himself. He advised he was willing to go. As he stood up, he staggered several steps while attempting to stand. He stated he wanted to use the restroom. The motel staff said they did not have a public restroom, the report states.

The deputy assisted the man to a patrol vehicle, where he was handcuffed in the front due to him being too intoxicated and unsteady on his feet while walking out of the motel. During transportation to the hospital he said he needed to use the bathroom. The deputy advised that it would only take a couple minutes and when he arrived at the hospital he could use the restroom. The man started saying he was going to pee int he patrol vehicle and made comments about deputies being able to wash off the plastic seats in the rear of the patrol car, so that he should be able to urinate.

The man said “f*** that dude” after being advised not to urinate in the back of the patrol vehicle, the report states. The man then urinated in the back of the patrol vehicle anyway, removing his belt and lowered his pants, exposing himself to urinate rather than urinating in his pants.

Upon arrival at the hospital, the man became uncooperative with deputies. He was arrested due to his actions in the back of the patrol vehicle as well as his uncooperative behavior with deputies during transport and that he was sleeping in the lobby of a motel, the report states. The deputy believed the man would continue to be uncooperative with hospital staff if released to their care in lieu of placing him into civil protective custody and releasing him to the care of hospital staff.

While speaking with the medical providers, the man also expressed that he had no interest in going to an inpatient facility for alcohol use.

He was informed he was being taken to jail for disorderly conduct due to his passing out in the motel lobby. He became irate and argumentative with deputies and medical staff after being told he was going to jail, the report states. He began to stand up after being told to sit down and was forced to sit back down on the bed by deputies.

At this time he began yelling at the nurse, who was asking him questions related to his medications, becoming verbally abusive with staff and deputies near him, the report states. He was medically cleared and released. He ultimately got into the police vehicle after complaining that there was puddles of his urine in the back of the patrol car. He was taken to jail where he was put in a padded cell for his safety due to his erratic behavior. Bail: $2,500.

— A 49-year-old Carson City woman was arrested June 21 for a misdemeanor violation of bail conditions warrant issued June 16, 2025 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000 cash.

— A 32-year-old Carson City woman was arrested June 21 for a misdemeanor warrant alleging driving with a revoked license. The warrant was issued June 13, 2025 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $640.

— A man was arrested early Sunday for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI. According to the booking report, at 1:38 a.m. a deputy on patrol observed a vehicle turn onto South Carson Street from Colorado Street without stopping at the stop sign. The deputy initiated a traffic stop.

The vehicle yielded at South Stewart Street and Little Lane. The deputy approached the vehicle and made contact with the driver. There was a strong odor of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle and there were two sealed Twisted Tea alcoholic beverages on the front passenger seat, the report states. The man admitted to consuming a couple drinks. He agreed to standardized field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment on the tests. He declined to provide a preliminary breath test. He was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI. He agreed to evidentiary breath tests, with results of .226 and .207, the report states. Bail: $1,137.

— A 46-year-old man was arrested Sunday, June 22 for suspicion of two counts gross misdemeanor child endangerment, possession of a controlled substance and two counts possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the booking report, deputies responded to a residence after an anonymous call from a juvenile who stated two people were arguing. Deputies arrived and could hear yelling and an argument. Other deputies arrived and approached the residence where the man exited. Deputies spoke with a female inside the where she was asked to step outside, which she complied.

She explained she and the man had been together for 21 years but not legally married and have two children together. She said they were separated for 2-3 months and she has been staying with a co-worker, the report states. She advised she no longer lives there and went to the residence to see her children to make sure they are fed and clean and the residence cleaned up. She said the residence looks trashed every time she comes back after getting it cleaned, the report states.

Deputies spoke with the man who appeared under the influence. His eyes were dilated and he was extremely fidgety and could not sit still, the report states. He was asked about the last time he used drugs. He said yesterday to which the deputy told him he was lying and not being truthful. The deputy said he knew he had been using drugs recently and believed there were drugs in the residence as he was under the influence.

The deputy asked him where the drugs were. The man told the deputy they were inside the residence and said they were inside one of his shoes. The deputy asked if they could grab the drugs. The man said “yes you may,” the report states.

Based on the man’s consent, the deputy entered the residence and found the shoes the man described. Deputies located two methamphetamine pipes and a white coffee filter that was used to hold a plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine, the report states. The man was asked about the drugs and meth pipe inside the shoes and if they were his. He said they were his and did not belong to anyone else. He was arrested for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia.

While inside the residence, deputies observed it was extremely dirty, with piles of trash all over the sink and a pile of dirty dishes, with food on the dishes that was old, crusted and stale. The deputy report stated the living conditions were subpar for children to be living in, with drugs found to be easily accessible to anyone in the residence and not secured inside the residence, with the children inside who could have easily gained access to endanger their lives. Bail: $2,500.

— A 49-year-old Carson City woman was arrested early Sunday for suspicion of DUI. According to the booking report, a deputy was on East Robinson near North Carson Street and observed a vehicle stopped at the light on the wrong side of the road.

The patrol vehicle passed the vehicle and made a u-turn, activating their overhead lights. The vehicle came to a stop at North Carson and William Street in a parking lot. The deputy made contact with the driver and sole occupant. The driver was asked for her license, registration and proof of insurance. As she gathered her documents, the deputy could smell and odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle, the deputy’s report states.

The deputy asked if she consumed any alcoholic beverages. The driver said yes. The deputy asked her to step out of the vehicle. She agreed to standardized field sobriety tests where the deputy observed multiple signs of impairment, the report states. She refused a preliminary breath test. She was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. At jail she agreed to evidentiary breath tests and provided two samples. Bail: $1,137.

— A 37-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Sunday, June 22 for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and a Department of Alternative Sentencing violation. Bail: $3,000 cash.

— A 56-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Sunday, June 22, for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $2,500.

— A 30-year-old man was booked Sunday, June 22 for a misdemeanor failure to appear bench warrant issued June 10, 2025 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000 cash.

— A 30-year-old man and inmate at Carson City Jail was booked Sunday, June 22, for a misdemeanor bench warrant issued out of Carson City Justice Court. No bail hold in lieu of hearing.

— A 43-year-old Carson City man was booked for a misdemeanor violation of suspended sentence warrant issued May 13, 2024 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000 cash.
