The Carson City Chamber Leadership Institute Class of 2025 celebrated the completion of its community improvement, group project with a ribbon-cutting ceremony recently for the newly constructed ticket booth at Carson High School’s Sports Complex.
The event held at the entrance to the Carson High athletic fields marked the culmination of months of planning, fundraising and volunteer work led by the Chamber’s Leadership Class.
The Chamber Leadership Class raised nearly $200,000 in monetary and in-kind donations to complete the project. The project helped modernize the aging, weathered and outdated structure and will improve accessibility and enhance the overall experience for students, families and visitors attending school events.
“This booth is often the first point of contact for visitors attending Carson High events,” said Amber LaFollette, a member of the Chamber Leadership Class of 2025. “We saw an opportunity to give back something lasting to our community that would reflect the pride we have in our local schools and our youth.”
The updated ticketing booth now features improved lighting, updated signage, fresh paint and ADA-compliant service windows. In addition, the class worked with local contractors and volunteers to ensure the work met school district and safety standards.
More than 50 individuals, including school administrators, chamber representatives, city officials, parents and student-athletes, gathered for the ribbon cutting.
The Carson City Chamber Leadership Institute is a professional development program that encourages civic engagement and leadership through hands-on community projects. Each year, the leadership class selects and completes a group initiative that addresses a local need.
Sponsors and contributors to the project include the following: Alcal Drywall, Alpine Drafting, Applied Engineering, Arrowhead Painting, Capital Glass, Carson Door, Carson Masonry, Cinderlite, Clark Engineering, Concrete Accessories, CTR Roofing, DC Masonry, Denton Cabinets, Eldorado Trusses, Foster Machining, Inc., F&P Construction, GB Drywall & Plaster, Hawkins Heating and Air, Hettrick Electric, JCI, JWC, Lumos & Associates, Nevada Fence, Newt Concrete Construction, Reno Carson Lumber, Rick’s Floor Covering, Ridgeline Framing, Sherwin Willimas, The Flag Store and Waste Management.
