Carol Elizabeth SIMERLY Gribble, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2025, in Flat Rock, North Carolina, at the age of 73. Born on September 20, 1951, on Elgin Air Force Base in Valparaiso, Florida, Carol lived a life full of compassion, creativity, and devotion.

For over 25 years, Carol dedicated herself to caring for others as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Blount Memorial Hospital. Her unwavering commitment to her patients and colleagues made her a cherished member of the hospital community. Beyond her professional life, Carol’s passions shone brightly. She was an avid photojournalist who delighted in capturing the beauty and complexity of the world through her lens. Her love for storytelling extended to reading, where she found solace and adventure in the pages of books. Carol also had a profound love for music, often filling her home with the melodies of her guitar.

A longtime and devoted member of Living Waters Baptist Church in Hendersonville, North Carolina, Carol’s faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and providing comfort to those around her. Her presence within the church community was a testament to her kind spirit and generous heart.

Carol was preceded in death by her loving parents, Kenneth Raymond Simerly and Ida Elizabeth Sartini Simerly, as well as her grandchildren, Janet Marie Tipton, Costner McIntosh, Suzanna Hare, and Kelly Tran. Her legacy lives on through her devoted children: Angela Lea Huss and her husband, Ken; William Lee Gribble and his wife, Laura; and Kenneth Michael Gribble. She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Elizabeth Raines and her husband, Andy; Evan Tipton, Cody Tipton, Katie Tipton, Alana Jarvis and her husband, Matt; Alisa Bales and her husband, Matt; Alexis Gidens and her husband, Joseph; Emily Gribble, Madison Gribble, Ethan Gribble, Atticus Gribble, Lunetta Gribble, and Blake Gribble. Carol’s joy and love also extend to her many great-grandchildren and her brother, Kenneth Tanner and his wife, Harriet.

The family invites friends and loved ones to join them in celebrating Carol’s life. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM at Shuler Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Zion Chapel Cemetery, 3334 Zion Chapel Rd., Louisville, TN, with Pastor Roger Pugh officiating.

Carol Elizabeth SIMERLY Gribble touched countless lives with her warmth, kindness, and indomitable spirit. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Shuler Funeral Home has the honor of serving the family during this time of remembrance and reflection.
