Carol Barker

Carol Elam Barker, 75, of Winchester, KY, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025.

Born May 13, 1950, in West Liberty, Morgan County, Kentucky, Carol was the beloved daughter of William Charles Elam and Beatrice Arnett Elam, both of whom preceded her in death.

From a young age, Carol pursued her education, later attending Morehead State University and Eastern Kentucky University. She later joined Quality Manufacturing as an office manager, where her dedication and work ethic made her a cherished colleague and friend to many.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, James R. Barker; son Brandon E. Barker and wife Lin of Ithaca, NY; stepsons Richard D. Barker and wife Nancy of Winchester, KY, and James O. Barker and wife Stephanie of Morehead, KY; grandchildren Jordan Barker and wife Lauren of Independence, KY, Zachary Barker and wife Ashley of Union, KY, Bailee Stromquist and husband Jeff of Union, KY, Alec Barker of Morehead, KY, Lindon and Hayden Barker of Ithaca, NY; and seven great-grandchildren: Brantley, Kynlee, Brooks, Gracie, Karson, Lillie, and Grayson. She also leaves behind two sisters: Wilma Jones (Ewell) of Salt Lick, KY and Joyce Enoch (David) of Mt Sterling, KY; one brother: Frank Elam of Salt Lick, KY; and numerous nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.

Carol was predeceased by her nephew, Jonathan Elam, sister-in-law, Kaye Elam, and her parents.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Scobee Funeral Home, 219 W Lexington Ave., Winchester, KY. Visitation will take place from 12:00 PM until the time of service. Burial will be private in Winchester Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to organizations supporting Alzheimerʼs research or animal welfare in Carolʼs memory.
