Carmen Veta Muschett, a beloved educator and devoted servant of the Lord, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025, at Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina. Born in Brooklyn, New York, on April 20, 1927, Carmen lived a life defined by her strong faith, dedication to teaching, and love for music. She was 98 years old.

Educated at Columbia International University, Carmen’s passion for learning and teaching was evident throughout her remarkable career. She was a cherished teacher at Faith Christian School, where she touched countless lives with her kindness and commitment to education. Carmen’s pioneering spirit led her to initiate the National Institute for Learning Disabilities, where she proudly served as the first teacher for the program, making a lasting impact on students with special needs.

A faithful member of Bethany Bible Church, Carmen dedicated herself to teaching Sunday school and music, nurturing both the spiritual and artistic growth of those around her. Her love for music extended beyond the church walls, as she offered private lessons in piano and guitar, sharing her talents with many aspiring musicians.

Carmen’s zest for life was evident in her active lifestyle. She was an avid swimmer, regularly participating in events at the YMCA, well into her 90’s and competing in the Senior Games, where she proudly earned medals.

Preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Owen Muschett, and her sisters, Lila Dann and Germaine Davis, Carmen leaves behind her cherished niece, Barbara Swartz, along with a host of dear friends and former students who will forever remember her warmth and generosity.

A memorial service to celebrate Carmen’s life will be held at eleven o’clock on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Bethany Bible Church, located at 207 Chadwick Avenue, Hendersonville, NC. Pastor Russ Baun will officiate the service, honoring her legacy of faith and love.
