Carl David Bauman, 69, of Waverly, West Virginia, passed away on August 31, 2025.
Carl was born on December 23, 1955, and lived on Love Hill Road, where he spent most of his life surrounded by the family and community he cherished. He was the son of the late Harold and Maxine Bauman, and one of thirteen siblings who grew up together on that same road.
Much of Carl’s working life was spent at Fore Timber, though in his younger years he traveled widely across the United States, collecting stories and memories he loved to share. Carl was known for his love of the outdoors, his deep care for animals—especially his beloved labradoodle, Sonny—and his unmatched pride in his perfectly cut grass (no one could mow a straighter line than Carl!).
Above all, Carl was a man of strong faith, carrying an unwavering belief in God throughout his life. He had an opinion on just about everything, but always in the best way—sharing his thoughts with passion, humor, and honesty. He was a storyteller at heart, quick to bring a smile or spark a conversation wherever he went.
Carl’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his three children: Kayla, Ben, and Carley Bauman. He is also survived by his sisters Evelyn Williams of Marietta, Donna Knopp (Michael) of Williamstown, Connie Cale (Steve) of Parkersburg, and Shelia McLeish of Marietta.
He was preceded in death by his sisters Betty Uppole, Judy Roach, Nancy Silket, Carolyn Biery, and Ruth Hupp; and by his brothers Donald Bauman, Dale Fore, and Gale Fore.
Carl will be deeply missed, but the love he gave and the faith he carried will remain with all who knew him.
In keeping with Carl’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. Family and friends are invited to gather for his burial at Shiloh Cemetery at a later date, where he will be laid to rest surrounded by those who loved him most.
