Bruce Peters

Bruce C. Peters, 84, died Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Kearny County Hospital in Lakin, Kansas. He was born January 10, 1941, in Ransom, Kansas, the son of Tillman & Beulah (Barr) Peters.

Bruce grew up in Utica, Kansas where he attended schools and graduated from Utica High School. He then attended York College in York, Nebraska and later attended college in southern New Mexico. He moved to Lakin, Kansas in 1966 where he has lived since. Bruce worked as a Game Warden for the Kansas Forestry, Fish & Game which later became the Kansas Department of Wildlife & Parks and retired in 2003 after serving for 38 years. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Lakin and a member of the NRA. He enjoyed wildlife and loved hunting especially deer and geese.

On October 6, 1973, he married Linda Barbara Ustick in Lakin, Kansas. She survives. Other survivors include two sons Bryan Peters of Liberal, Kansas and Alan & wife Andra Peters of Lakin, Kansas; and three grandchildren Kaitlyn Peters, Thomas Peters, & Sarah Peters. Bruce is preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers Scott Peters and Keith Peters.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the Church of Christ in Lakin, Kansas with Pastor Jarrod Spencer officiating. Burial will follow at the Lakin, Kansas. There will be no calling hours. The family suggests memorials given to the Kearny County Museum or the Church of Christ, both in care of Garnand Funeral Home, PO Box 91, Lakin, Kansas 67860.
