Bridget Hemm

Bridget Michelle Hemm, 54, of Peru, New York, passed away peacefully and comfortably at her farm on October 22, 2025.

Bridget was born in Plattsburgh on June 17, 1971. She was a long-time fixture at Lake Champlain Cardiology, where she brought compassion, warmth, humor, and professionalism to patients and colleagues alike.

She was an inspirational cancer survivor and an active member of the Treasure Chests support group, as well as a dedicated Reach to Recovery volunteer who helped others navigate their own journeys with courage and grace. Bridget and her family approached breast cancer head-on, with unmatched positivity, determination, strength, and courage. She was a beacon of energy and optimism from which others drew strength.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Nancy Aley, and her grandparents Jeanette and James Kelley, and Virginia and Richard Aley.

She is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Curtiss; their son, Alec; her father, Michael Aley, his significant other, Colleen M O’Hearn; her brother, Derrick, and sister-in-law, Krissy; their children, Annika, Benjamin, and Jack; her brother-in-law, Erich Hemm, and his son, Maxwell.

Bridget’s greatest gift was her ability to bring light and laughter wherever she went. Her courage, strength, positivity, and kindness inspired everyone who knew her, and her love for her family, friends, and life will continue to ripple outward for years to come.

Calling hours will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on October 28, 2025 at the Hamilton Funeral Home, located at 294 Mannix Road, Peru, NY.

In lieu of flowers, Bridget and Curtiss ask that people offer a random act of kindness for another.

Those wishing to make donations may do so to the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center via the Foundation of CVPH or the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.

The family wishes to thank the compassionate staff of the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Hospice of the North Country for their care, kindness, and support.

She lived her life in grace and gave her heart freely—her love will forever be our light, and her memory will forever be our calm.
