Brendan O’Toole

Boylston-Brendan H. O’Toole, 94, passed peacefully at home on Sunday, May 18, 2025. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Maryellen (McLaughlin) O’Toole, and their infant son, Brendan H. O’Toole, Jr. He is survived by his children, Margaret O’Toole & fiancé Mark Fortuna of Boylston; Kathleen McNatt & husband Kevin of Nashville, TN; James O’Toole & wife Karen of Holden; Brian O’Toole & his partner Roberta Parisi of Stowe, VT; and Patrick O’Toole & wife Heather of Upton; 6 grandchildren, Lille McNatt, Luke, Katelyn, Kairat, Alina, and Danny O’Toole; nieces, nephews, extended family, and his devoted caregivers Julia, Sandra, Carmen, and Jussara. He is pre-deceased by two brothers, Capt. Kevin O’Toole, and Dr. David O’Toole.
Son of the late Henry & Ruth (Kaulbeck) O’Toole, Brendan was born and raised in Clinton and was a graduate of the Clinton High School, Class of 1948. He began studies at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences before enlisting to proudly serve our nation in the US Navy. Brennie was assigned to Sand Bay Naval Station in Alaska and served as a Hospital Corpsman Petty Officer 2nd Class during the Korean Conflict before being honorably discharged. He returned home safely to complete his studies and begin his lifelong career as a Pharmacist at Hastings Pharmacy in Clinton, which he would later acquire, own and operate, until its closing. In addition, he served as a Pharmacist for Fallon Clinic before helping establish the pharmacy and serve as Chief Pharmacist for the Worcester County House of Correction, until retiring. Retirement years were enjoyed alongside his wife Maryellen, collecting antiques and walking the grounds of Tower Hill Botanical Garden. Brennie also enjoyed time spent in Stowe, Vermont and the occasional Michelob Ultra. Above all, he was happiest in the company of his wife, children, and grandchildren, and will be forever remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM on Friday, May 30, 2025 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union St., Clinton, with burial to follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Lancaster. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Brendan H.
