Boyd “Richard” Willis, age 81, departed this life on September 27, 2025, doing what he loved most—working on the farm with his boys by his side.
Richard was born October 5, 1943, in Redbird Hollow to Bert and Neva Willis. He spent much of his youth on AB Creek before marrying the love of his life, Leota Canon, on July 21, 1960. Together they shared 44 years of marriage and raised two sons, Rusty and Terry.
Richard was saved as a young boy at Celt Union Church and later answered the call to preach in the early 1980s. Over the years, he pastored many churches and led numerous revivals, faithfully sharing the Gospel. He was currently serving as pastor of Macedonia Church in Buffalo, Missouri, and was a devoted member of Hickory Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
A gifted musician, Richard loved playing music with family and friends. He was especially talented on the Dobro, earning first place in competition in Oklahoma. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and, above all, working alongside his boys on the farm.
Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Leota Willis; his parents, Bert and Neva Willis; his brother, Benny Gene Willis; and his sister, Ruth Ann Stoufer.
