Bonnie Marie McAllen “Mom” walked through life with wide open eyes, and a boundless heart. She was born joyful, curious, and just a little bit wild. She believed in impossible things (often before breakfast).
Her laughter was contagious and unfiltered, and she could turn any day into an adventure in sunshine or thunder cloud because she was a woman of authentic honesty and fierce passion, and she wore it all on her sleeve.
There is a special reverence owed to the woman who, with nothing but her faith, determination and unbreakable spirit, raised her children through a life full of storms. She never wavered, never let go, never gave up. Not when the nights were long, nor when the world pressed in. Her love was relentless. Through trials and hardships, she did her best to stand firm in her conviction. And because she did, her children grew up strong. She was the root from which so many bloomed, the quiet force beneath countless triumphs.
Bonnie was a faithful friend to so many, and she listened to them, as if they might, like her, have discovered the magic in Wonderland. She was the kind of woman who gave away more than she kept. Her life was a song and her family and friends are grateful to have heard the music.
We rest confident in our Savior and know that she is finally at rest with Jesus. Walking with Him hand in hand, she is made new, whole, complete, healed… and always barefoot.
“End? No, the journey doesn’t end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass. And then you see it. White shores, and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise”. ~J.R.R. Tolkien
She is finally free, she is finally home!
A celebration of her life will be held in every breath her children take, in every gray wave that crashes on the shore, and in a lifetime of memories that ripple like leaves through the wind.
Bonnie is survived by her seven cherished children – Hillary Lang, Green Markos, Sarah Middleton, Isaac Middleton, Golda Houidobre, Hannah McAllen, and Rachel Brigham; nineteen beloved grandchildren; one precious great-grandchild, expected to arrive in October; and her husband, Edward McAllen.
