Betty Trahan

Private services were held at Woodlawn Mausoleum for Betty Joyce Trahan, 84, who passed away Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Ochsner Acadia General Hospital.

Betty was born in Crowley and was a graduate of St. Michael Elementary and St. Michael High School.

She is survived by four children, Philip J. Cagnina, III and his wife Kathy, Joseph Cagnina, Jr. and his wife Dee Dee, Melissa “Missy” Cagnina Sloane, and Mary “Cathy” Cagnina Breaux and her husband Tracy; two brothers, Wallace “Ricky” Trahan, Jr. and his wife Shirley, and Robert “Bobby” Trahan and his wife Sandra; nine grandchildren, Adam Cagnina and his girlfriend Sage, Alexandra Cagnina Lamabe and her husband Alex, Britt Cagnina and his wife Jisu, Stacey Cagnina Allen and her wife Lindsey, Jantz Sloane and his wife Heather, Jacob Sloane and his girlfriend Kirsten, Drew Breaux, Cameron Breaux, and Christian Breaux; and five great-grandchildren, Rowen Cary, Aspen Cary, Riggs Cary, Todd Joseph Sloane, Blayne Noel Cagnina, and baby boy Sloane who is due to arrive this July.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Margaret Trahan; her son-in-law Todd Sloane; and her nephew, Wallace J. “Jaybird” Trahan, III.

The family would like to sincerely recognize Southwind Healthcare and Rehabilitation where she resided for the last 16 years, Robert Aertker, Gretchen John, NP, Amy Landry, and Sandra Thomas for their exceptional care, kindness and compassion given to Betty and her loved ones.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home of Crowley.
