Betty Kratz

Betty Lou (Moore) Kratz, 90, formerly of Clear Spring, MD, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Farhney Keedy Nursing Home in Boonsboro, MD.

Born October 26, 1934, in Conococheague, MD, she was the daughter of the late Stanley Luther Moore and Nora Viola (Forsyth) Moore.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, William “Bill” T. Kratz Sr., in January 2021.

Betty was a 1952 graduate of Clear Spring High School and a member of St. Paul’s Reformed Church in Clear Spring.

She retired from the Washington County Board of Education as an assistant manager in food services.  After retiring, she enjoyed buying and selling antiques with her husband.

Betty is survived by two daughters, Stephanie Metcalf (Dave) and Lisa E. Kratz; son, William T. Kratz Jr. (Sherri); grandson, Bryan Kratz; step-grandchildren, Jennifer Dunn and Jason Metcalf; and a great-grandson, Duke Kratz.

In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by 4 sisters, Anna Kernan, Rayetta Moore, Phyllis Snyder, and Joyce McKee; a brother, Hillard Moore; and a grandson, Thomas J. Kratz.

A celebration of life for both Bill and Betty will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 11 am at St. Paul’s Reformed Church, 14106 National Pike, Clear Spring, MD.  The Rev. Dennis Whitmore will officiate.  Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday from 10 to 11 am.
