Obituary: Bernard James Cyplik

August 8, 1970 – July 30, 2025

With deep love and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Bernard James Cyplik, who died on July 30, 2025, at the age of 54.

Born on August 8, 1970, in Evergreen Park, Illinois, Bernie was the cherished son of Bernard Cyplik and the late Rose Marie Caesar Cyplik. An Air Force veteran, he lived a life marked by quiet strength, deep loyalty, and an unapologetic love for the things that made life worth living.

On June 2, 2019, Bernie married Sharon Laulainen-Libby, his partner in love, mischief, and everything in between. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and family. Bernie was a devoted father to Noah and Justine, and a proud stepfather to Robert, Rebecca, Rachel, and Ryan. He embraced his role as “Bumpa” to his grandchildren Amara and Axel, with whom he shared endless moments of joy. They particularly enjoyed watching Land of the Lost and making ordinary days feel like adventures as they paddled around the pool.

He had a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures: cruising on his motorcycle, lighting up a good cigar, cheering for football and car racing, and floating in the pool with his well-worn Hydro Flask labeled “This is Probably Titos.” That bottle, like Bernie, was a little banged up, full of character, and always close by when you needed it. He loved a strong drink (and made his own moonshine), a good laugh, and absolutely detested mayonnaise; a fact he made well-known and stood by with conviction.

Bernie was deeply proud of his Polish heritage, often speaking of it with affection and humor. He carried that pride visibly with a Polish flag tattooed on his calf. Bernie was known for his dry wit, his rock-steady presence, and his ability to end any argument with a grin and the phrase, “Jesus loves.” It was his way of defusing tension and reminding us all of what mattered most.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Rose Marie and is survived by his loving wife Sharon; his children and stepchildren; his grandchildren; his father, Bernard Cyplik; and his siblings Anthony Cyplik (Kathy Harubin), Donna Pourciau (Marc), Mary Steinken (Frederick), and Sharon Hawn. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews, who will forever remember his strength, humor, and generous heart.

Bernie lived life on his own terms with grit, heart, and humor. He loved deeply and left behind a legacy of strength, kindness, and unforgettable memories.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A Celebration of Life will be held on August 10, 2025 from 2 pm to 4 pm at Mesa Verde Room, 2615 S. Farnsworth Dr., Mesa, AZ
