Berdine Flowers, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend passed away on Friday, May 23, 2025, at the age of 78. Born in Laurinburg, NC on March 27, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Fairley and Ophelia (Blue) Flowers.
Berdine will be remembered for her warm smile, gentle spirit, and unwavering kindness. She dedicated her life to her family and those she cared about with a listening ear, helping hand, and loving embrace. She never complained even when she wasn’t feeling her best but was always determined to do her best.
Berdine was employed by SNET Telephone Company in her earlier years and later went on to be a Certified Nurse’s Aid for decades until retirement. She was a long-time member of Cross Street AME Zion Church and loved to volunteer her time at Middlesex Hospital, a testament to her dedication to help others. She was also a part of a women’s group at The Salvation Army for many years. The sense of fellowship played a meaningful role in her life. Many may not know that Berdine was an avid pianist with early beginnings. It brought her so much joy to play selections for others.
Berdine was predeceased by 4 sisters: Roberta Flowers, Gladys Butts, Marcella Miller, and Edna Edens; 4 brothers: Fairley Flowers, Jr., Winston Flowers, William Flowers, Lacy Flowers, and a great grandson, Kenneth Ford, Jr. (KJ).
She is survived by her 3 daughters: Crystal Mitchell (Lamar), Allysan Johnson (Derrick), and Eartha Henry; 7 grandchildren: Kenneth Ford, Sr., Isiah Webb, Jaden Chamblee, Chase Chamblee, Sasha Smith-Peterkin, Arianna Smith-Peterkin, and Essoham “Caleb” Kabissa; 2 great grandsons, Kanaan Ford, Kayce Ford, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
