Barbara Ann Arnold Solomon, aged 85, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025, at Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville, North Carolina. Born on September 16, 1939, in Morehead, Kentucky, she led a life marked by professional achievement, personal passions, and dedication to mentoring future generations.

Barbara’s early years were spent in Morehead, where she was nurtured by her loving parents, the late Gilbert and Myrtle Cox Arnold. Her academic journey took her to Ball State University, where she laid the foundation for a remarkable career in business.

In an era when women were just beginning to make strides in corporate leadership, Barbara forged a path of success and influence. She began her career as an Office Manager with Standard Brands, where her commitment and talents were quickly recognized. Her dedication and skill led her to a senior leadership role as Senior Vice President with McMillan Ring Free Oil, making her one of the early female pioneers in management.

Outside of her professional life, Barbara possessed a love for sports and the outdoors. She was an avid tennis player, enjoyed golf, and found solace in fly fishing and hunting. Her passion for current events kept her informed and engaged with the world around her. Barbara was also deeply committed to supporting and mentoring young women aspiring to enter management positions, imparting her wisdom and experience to empower others.

Barbara is survived by her beloved husband of 45 years, Stephen “Steve” Solomon; her step daughter, Jessica Solomon of Seattle, WA; stepson, Peter Solomon and his wife Virginia of Westport, MA; and her brother, Glen Arnold and his wife Patrice of Mequon, WI. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

The family invites all who knew Barbara to a memorial service celebrating her life, which will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 2:00 p.m at Shuler Funeral’s Kirby Memorial Chapel.

Barbara’s journey took her to various places, including residencies in Chicago, IL, Pound Ridge, NY, and Bedford, NY, each location contributing to the rich tapestry of her life’s story.

Barbara Ann Arnold Solomon will be remembered for her trailblazing spirit, love for her family, and the countless lives she touched through her mentorship and friendship. May her legacy of strength and generosity continue to inspire those who follow in her footsteps.
