Barbara Ann Detlor

Barbara Ann Detlor passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025, in Sunnyvale, California, at the
age of 88. Born in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, on May 20, 1937, Barbara lived a life rich in
creativity, compassion, and joy.
She was the beloved daughter of Lloyd Dennis Detlor (1917–1955) and Rose Ann Detlor
(1917–1988), and was predeceased by her cherished brothers, Lloyd Dennis Detlor Jr. and Ronald Joseph Detlor. Barbara shared a special bond with her brother Denis, often joining him in musical performances in Webster, New York – she had the voice of an angel.
Barbara’s professional journey began at Xerox in Webster, New York, where she worked with
dedication and pride. In 1980, she moved to California and continued her career with Xerox,
ultimately retiring after 34 years of devoted service. Her work ethic, loyalty, and warmth left a
lasting impression on colleagues and friends alike.
A true artist at heart, Barbara found joy in painting and drawing, especially with charcoal
pencils. Her creativity extended to the kitchen, where she was known for her exceptional
cooking, and to the sewing room, where she crafted beautiful pieces as a talented seamstress. Her
laugh was unforgettable—full of life and capable of lifting spirits in an instant.
Barbara is survived by her devoted best friend Everett Woolum, and her loving daughter
MarySue Whittum (Kinsley Whittum). She also leaves behind four grandchildren, three great-
grandchildren, many cousins and her beloved dog Sasha, who was her constant companion and
source of comfort.
She was predeceased by her dear friend Gerri Allen of Webster, whose friendship brought
Barbara immeasurable joy and support throughout her life.
Barbara’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and artistry. She touched the lives of many with her
kindness, her talents, and her unwavering spirit. She will be deeply missed and forever
remembered by those who knew and loved her.
Barbara will be laid to rest next to her parents in Webster, New York. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August
20, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Webster Rural Cemetery.
A celebration of life service will follow on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Union Church of Cupertino in Cupertino, California, where friends and loved, ones will gather to honor her legacy and rejoice in the light
she shared.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Union Church of Cupertino in Barbara’s memory.
