Ariel Aguilera

With heavy and broken hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved baby brother, Ariel Aguilera, who earned his wings on May 26, 2025.
Ariel was born on January 26, 1969, in Flagstaff, Arizona, the youngest child of Jesus and Guadalupe Aguilera. He was a cherished member of our family, bringing joy, laughter, and his unique sense of humor to everyone who knew him. He was affectionately known as Sugar, Munky, Dad, Brother, and Friend.
Ariel was a familiar and beloved presence at South Mountain Community College, first as a student and later as an English and writing tutor, where he supported his peers with writing and research. A passionate reader and lifelong learner, Ariel was known for his wide-ranging knowledge and willingness to help others.
His educational accomplishments include earning an Associate in Arts Degree with Highest Distinction and induction into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. He later earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Human Behavior.
Ariel leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and treasured memories. He is survived by his siblings: Romana Robles, Jesus M. Aguilera Jr. (Mary), Elizabeth Paez (Steve), Ruben R. Aguilera Sr. (Dee), and Israel Aguilera; his twin daughters, Angelina Hernandez and Andreas Calloway (Angel); and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Guadalupe and Jesus M. Aguilera Sr., his brother Felipe Aguilera, and his partner Tara Newsome Williams.
Ariel is also survived by his beloved fur babies, Buddy and Xena.
A celebration of Ariel’s life will be held at Phoenix Funeral and Cremation Services, 1327 E. McDowell Rd., Phoenix, AZ, on June 13, 2025, at 2:00 PM.
