Clinton-Anthony F. “Franny” Kowalczyk, passed peacefully at Emerson Hospital in Concord on his 77th birthday, Thursday, June 12, 2025, following a period of declining health. He is survived by two sisters, Susan A. Kowalczyk and her husband Lorin Jeffers of Priest River, Idaho; and Irene Gould of Clinton; several nieces and nephews, especially Kate Overland and her husband Dirk, and their three sons, Jon, Nolan, and Andrew Overland of Hayden, Idaho; Jesse Jeffers, Rayana Benson, and Adam Jeffers; extended family and many dear friends. He is pre-deceased by his sister Eleanor Buerster.
Son of the late Anthony & Ethel (White) Kowalczyk, Franny was born and raised in Clinton and was a lifelong resident. Following graduation from the Clinton High School, Class of 1966, he enlisted to proudly serve our nation in the US Army during the Vietnam War. A proud veteran and patriot, Franny was discharged as a Specialist Fourth Class and recognized for valor and meritorious service as a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal and member of the 101st Airborne. After returning home safely, he began his lifelong career with the Town of Clinton, retiring after 36 years from the Department of Public Works. He remained actively involved in numerous clubs and organizations including: Disabled American Veterans, VFW, PAV, Elks, Worcester Veterans Center, and Vietnam Combat Land Clearers Association. Among his many hobbies and interests, Franny proudly hosted many memorable bus trips to Opening Day at the Red Sox and remained a devoted lifelong fan. He was also an avid fisherman and classic car enthusiast. Above all, he will be lovingly remembered as a devoted brother, uncle, and friend.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025 from 9:30 until 11AM with a Funeral Service immediately following at 11AM in the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton, with burial to follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Lancaster.
