May His Memory Be Eternal!
Andreas Elias Halikas was a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew,
cousin, and cherished friend to many, who departed this life on June 15, 2025.
Born on August 19, 1994, in San Ramon, California to Tim Halikas and Anastasia Stephanopoulos, he was the second born child sandwiched between his two sisters. Growing up in Walnut Creek, Andreas spent his early youth at the Scottsdale Swim Club, playing soccer, CYO Basketball, flag football and Lacrosse. Two summers ago, he attempted to Wake Board for the first time and was successful on his first try. To say he was a natural athlete was an understatement.
Andreas was always known for being a class clown and making his friends laugh. He had a compassionate heart and was always protecting the underdog. One time in the third grade he got in a fight because someone called a friend of his “four eyes” for wearing glasses. If you ask anyone, most will have a funny story to share about Andreas’ silly sense of humor and comedic personality.
Andreas’ personal journey after middle school was challenging. Despite the difficulties he endured over the years leading up and into his adult years, Andreas continued to be vigilant in his personal growth and his relationship with the Lord. Andreas had more books in his library than most people. He was well read and was known for reading self-help books, studying Orthodox Saints, and reading the Bible.
Andreas was most at peace in the wilderness. He loved to camp, hike, and explore the natural wonders of God’s creation. He loved animals, and he was most in love with his Sheppard/Malinois, Duke that he adopted several years ago. They truly were best friends. From the moment those two met, it was a deep love for each other.
In the Summer of 2024, Andreas obtained his GED, which was something he really wanted to accomplish. This past January, Andreas was accepted into the SPIRIT Program (Service Provider Individualized Recovery Intensive Training) which is an accredited recovery oriented peer-led classroom and experimental based program. He attended this program at Contra Costa Community College in San Pablo. He started his internship at Connections House in Antioch. Andreas was on target to graduate July 2025 from the SPIRIT Program with a certificate in drug & alcohol counseling. He was on track to get a paid position with the Contra Costa County after graduating.
Andreas’ life was impactful in the thirty years he walked this earth. He has helped dozens of people in their life’s journey and given them great joy and hope for what life can offer. This is all evidenced by the outreach of love on social media.
Andreas will be greatly missed by his family and friends. While our hearts are shattered by his loss, we can find comfort in knowing he is at peace. Although Andreas is no longer in our physical presence, he will show up for us when we need him. He is survived by his father, Tim Halikas, his mother, Anastasia Stephanopoulos, his two sisters, Alexis and Gabriella Halikas, Paternal Grandfather, Spiros Halikas, Maternal Grandmother, Effy Stephanopoulos, 16 aunts and uncles, 21 cousins, dozens of second cousins, and his ‘bonus’ father, Glenn Daggs, ‘bonus’ sister, Camryn Heard, ‘bonus’ brothers, Kade Daggs and Bryan Crosby Daggs.
