Ancel Smith

Ancel “Hardrock” Smith, age 79 of Leburn, Kentucky passed away on Thursday September 4, 2025, at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard, KY. He was born on February 9, 1946, in Lackey, Kentucky to the late Amos and Roxie Collins Smith. Ancel was a former State Representative of the 92nd District.

Ancel is survived by his Brother: Bobby Ray Smith; Sisters: Betty (Sid) Watts, Bonnie Smith; Nephews: David Lowell Watts, Bobby Wayne (Brittany) Smith, Matthew Ryan Slone; Niece: Amber Cody (Mack) Hylton; Great-Nephew: Tristan Lee Campbell, Brandon Zane Mays; Great-Niece: Stesha Elizabeth (Nick) Caudill; Great-Great Nephew: Kayce James Caudill; Great-Great Niece: Elizabeth Nicole Caudill. A host of Family and Friends.

The family will receive friends Sunday September 7, 2025, from 12PM-9PM at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home Chapel in Hindman, KY with service at 7PM.

Funeral Services will be on Monday September 8, 2025, at 1PM at the funeral home chapel with Roy Slone, Jeffrey Hall and other Old Regular Baptist Ministers officiating. Burial will follow at the Mountain Memory Gardens in Hindman, KY. Ancel will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
