Alice Elaine Gladstone
Alice Elaine Gladstone, 78, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025. She was born on February 7, 1947, in Genesee, Alberta, to George and Alvina Hansen. She grew up on a farm and had 2 sisters and 3 brothers. Alice had special bonds with all her siblings and remained especially close to her sisters Laura and Helen and brother Walter. Laura and Alice were best friends and her older sister Helen was a mentor who she lived with before getting married. Walter was her older brother who always looked out for Alice and was just a phone call away.
Alice dedicated her life to creating a warm and nurturing home for her husband of 57 years, Ken, their two children and her four grandchildren. Alice’s greatest joy came from spending time with her family and fostering a loving environment. Her homemade cinnamon buns were legendary in the neighbourhood, and holiday gatherings were eagerly anticipated by family and friends alike. Alice played guitar and many Christmases were spent playing music with her brother-in-law Victor who played the violin and her niece Vicky who played the accordion. Although her health declined in later years, she would speak often of how joyful those Christmases were.
Alice married Ken Gladstone in 1967 and moved to Violet Grove where they lived for 57 years. They made lifelong friends with neighbours and many evenings were spent going for coffee and visiting. Maynard and Jo Allen, Maurice and Yvonne Nobert and Ron and Rosella Montieth were among many of the neighbours that Alice would consider some of her best friends and fondest memories. Later years were spent going for coffee at A&W and sharing stories with the regulars, which was also something she looked forward to.
She is survived by her husband Ken, children Kerry (Paula), Tim, grandchildren Cami, Amanda, Ethan and Madeline and great grandchild Royce.
There will be no formal Service for Alice at this time.
