Alan Wiener
- May 12, 2025

Alan David Wiener, 79, of Hopewell, New Jersey, passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Penn Medicine Princeton Medical Center, ending a lengthy battle with lung disease and cancer.
Born on November 29, 1945, in Newark, New Jersey, Alan grew up in Newark and Maplewood. He graduated from Columbia High School in South Orange where, much to the chagrin of his mother, he was a member of the wrestling team. Following high school, Alan earned a business/accounting degree from Temple University where he was an active member of Zeta Beta Tau, and an “outstanding senior,” attended American University Washington College of Law and received his Juris Doctor from Rutgers Law School.
A consummate counselor and financial transactions attorney, Alan practiced law for over 40 years, as a partner in several New Jersey law firms, and until his retirement, as in-house counsel with an asset-based lender and Santander Bank, N.A.
Always generous with his knowledge and time, Alan was a community leader with the cub scouts of New Providence, New Jersey and a committee chair with Temple Sinai in Summit, New Jersey. Family was Alan’s greatest treasure, and he delighted in his children and their spouses and his grandchildren.
Predeceased by his parents, Louis and Ida (née Marcus) Wiener, and his brother, Martin Wiener, Alan is survived by his adoring spouse, Patti Liberman, three children, Andrew Wiener and spouse Sally Wiener, Carrie Wiener, and Sydney Bauer and spouse Elizabeth Reynolds, sister-in-law, Edith Wiener, and three grandchildren, Lillian Wiener, Madison Wiener and Vesper Bauer.
The family will be receiving visitors on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 (noon) at The Star of David Memorial Chapel of Princeton, 40 Vandeventer Avenue, Princeton, New Jersey followed by a funeral service at 12:00 (noon) at The Star of David Memorial Chapel.
Burial will take place at the Beth Israel Cemetery, 1098 Woodbridge Center Drive, Woodbridge Township, New Jersey 07095.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to National Jewish Health (https://www.nationaljewish.org/) and the National Museum of the American Indian (https://americanindian.si.edu/).
