Alan Dale Stoddard, age 60, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 2nd, surrounded by his devoted wife, children, and family.
Alan was the ideal husband, father, grandfather, and friend; the true measure of a man, and a bright and steady light in the lives of all who knew him. Born on December 12, 1964, to Dale and Barbara Stoddard, he was one of eight siblings in a close-knit family that shaped the man he would become.
From a young age, Alan demonstrated an innate talent for technology and computers, matched by a playful sense of humor and a spark of mischief. As a young man, he served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Taiwan. In 1987, Alan married the love of his life – Audra Brent Joslin, his eternal companion. Together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and faith, raising four children in the warmth of unwavering devotion.
Alan’s life was defined by service, humility, love, and faith. He was a pillar of strength not only to his family, but to his church and community. In recent years, he found joy and purpose in serving with his wife in the Seattle Washington Temple, offering his time and heart to bless the lives of the temple patrons.
Perhaps his greatest joy came from being called “Grandpa”. His beloved grandchildren were everything to him, and their hearts were, to him, more precious than gold. Hardly a week went by when he couldn’t be found with at least one grandchild hanging from his arms or sharing a treat with him. They and each of his future posterity will continue to feel his unconditional love from across the veil.
Alan is survived by his cherished wife, Audra, and their four children: Jennifer Alish Vance (36), Jeffrey Alan Stoddard (35), Amber Christine Stoddard (31), and Alyssa Danielle Bradford (26). He also leaves behind his nine treasured grandchildren, extended family, and countless friends whose lives were made brighter by his presence. Alan passed from this life with deep faith in his Savior and a sure hope of a joyful reunion in the eternities to come. His legacy of love, faith, and service will continue to shine through the lives of all who knew and loved him.
