Alan Rowan
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Alan D. Rowan Jr., a lifelong resident of Wellington, Kansas. Known to his friends as Dwight, Alan was a man who was passionate about life and lived every moment to the fullest. He was adventurous, creative, funny, and talented. Born December 17, 1950 in Harper, KS, he departed this life on April 22, 2025.
Alan’s passion for mechanics was reflected in his work as an aircraft assembler at Textron and as a mechanic at John Deere and other locations. His love for working on classic cars, especially his beloved 1963 Chevrolet Impala Convertible, was well known among those who knew him. Alan was a diehard Chiefs fan in good times and bad. He was also an avid reader, with a special interest in American History, reflecting his deep patriotism. His creativity and appreciation of nature was evident in his paintings and drawings. He never hesitated to pull out his joke book and entertain anyone who would listen.
Alan is survived by his six children, Maria (Jamie) Cornejo, Alan “Buck” D. Rowan III, James (Jennifer) Rowan, Cryztal (Michael) Martinez, Richard Rowan, and Jeffery (Sharmaine) Rowan. His nine grandchildren, Ashley, Savannah, Julian, Alexis, Zane, Marissa, Bekah, Bella, and Emilia. He is also survived by his sister, Melinda Evans, brother Rick Rowan, and numerous nieces and nephews. Alan was preceded in death by his wife Linda Rowan and his parents, Alan D. Rowan Sr. and Violet “Micki” Rose Rowan.
In Alan’s memory, memorial donations may be made to Future’s Unlimited or Friendship Meals on Wheels. Donations may be mailed or left with the funeral home.
