Al Haraway JR.

Al Haraway, Jr. 96 years old, he was born on September 7th 1929 to Al Haraway and Emma McCoy Haraway. He passed away October 4, 2025, in at Innisfree Health and Rehab in Rogers, Arkansas. Al was the loving husband of June Gayle Montgomery Haraway proud Father of Al Haraway III(Jamie) of Bentonville and Kim Haraway (Maggie) of Houston, Texas proud grandfather of Shelby Phillips (John) and Kimberly Haraway.

And equally proud great-grandfather of Jack Phillips. Another very special person in his life was Norma Thrift. Her steadfast love, patience, compassion and caregiving will always be greatly appreciated. Her friendship is what allowed him to remain in Helena for as long as he did.

At his death, he was the oldest living member of the Helena First United Methodist Church congregation. Gentleman Farmer, Former longtime chairman of the Laconia levee board, and multiple awardees for excellence in levee maintenance. Proudly served as former president of the Phillips County Farm Bureau and a former member of the Arkansas Farm Bureau board of directors, A 50yr dedicated member of the Helena Rotary Club. As a Rotarian he was a multiple recipient of the Paul Harris Award.

Helena, AR is now and has always been his home. He always loved Helena and was always proud to share his love for his community. There was no place else he’d rather be. The saddest day of his life was the day we decided that we needed him to be close to Bentonville.

And last, but certainly not least. He was well known as an avid horse racing enthusiast. Some might argue and say rabid. He spent countless hours with his friends at Oaklawn, where he made many close horse racing friends throughout his lifetime. Including Dwayne Lucas and his blonde friend, … what was her name? Bob Derek!
