Agencies join WCSO for hands-on forensic training in recovering human remains

The Washoe County Forensic Science Division recently hosted the Suncoast Forensic Training, a three-day (24-hour) hands-on course focused on the search, documentation, and recovery of buried and surface-scattered human remains.

Topics covered included:

  • Introduction to Forensic Anthropology
  • Human vs. Non-Human Bone Identification
  • Human Osteology
  • Postmortem Modification to Human Remains
  • Recovery of Surface-Scattered Remains
  • Recovery of Buried Human Remains

“We were proud to welcome 31 participants from 16 agencies for this in-depth, real-world forensic training,” a WCSO spokesperson wrote. “Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this event a success.”
