OPELOUSAS ~ It is with the deepest sadness that we announce the unimaginable loss of our beloved son and oldest brother, Adam Colt Venable, who passed away at the young age of 42 on Wednesday, October 22, 2025.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 27, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in Melancon Funeral Home Chapel of Opelousas for Adam Colt Venable.
Interment will be in Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas. Pastor Kevin Lalonde will officiate the services.
Our hearts are broken, and our world feels dimmer without the light of his presence.
Adam will be remembered for his limitless creativity, his extravagant stories, his adventurous spirit, and his thoughtful, philosophical mind. His humor and warmth touched everyone who knew him, and his absence leaves a space that can never be filled. We will miss you forever, Adam.
When we think of our fondest memories with Adam, so many take us back to our childhood together. We spent endless days playing on our homemade visqueen slip-n-slide covered in bubbles, playing capture the flag and hide-and-seek, or enjoying family baseball games with our family of seven. We played basketball with Adam, splashed in the mud after big rains, took turns playing video games, pushed each other high on the swings, and zipped through the yard on the makeshift zip-line Adam built from his treehouse to the swing.
One of my favorite memories is the pretend “nightclub” Adam would set up in his room—complete with a blacklight and Coolio’s Gangsta’s Paradise blasting from his boombox. You had to be on his good side to get in, and not all of his siblings made the cut! Adam was incredibly smart from a young age—he would take apart entire radios just to build a little buzzer that shocked you when you shook his hand. He was always pulling pranks, laughing, and creating. He was also an amazing artist.
As an adult, Adam followed in his father’s footsteps and became a professional painter. He was quick, precise, and skilled in his craft. He loved riding four-wheelers and blasting techno music with the bass so loud it could rattle your teeth. He was always showing us new gadgets he’d discovered and loved telling his wild stories. He was silly and playful. Adam loved being with his family and was both a Daddy’s boy and a Mama’s boy.
Adam’s best friend was his father, and we take comfort in imagining them together again—smoking cigarettes and sharing jokes on a cloud.
Adam lived life fast and hard, but he always kept his family close to his heart. He never failed to check in on all of us.
His loss is both sudden and devastating.
Adam is survived by his mother, Lori Guillory, and her partner, Michel Meche; his siblings, Colby Ross Venable, Britney Grace Speyrer and her husband, Alex Speyrer, Jennifer Ann Venable and her partner, Joseph Anthony Tuminello III, and Spencer Elias Venable and his partner, Isabella Castille. He also leaves behind his nephews, Liam Speyrer, Scotti Venable, and Nicolai Venable-Tuminello, and his niece, Violet Venable.
He is preceded in death by his father and best friend, “Brother” Dalbert John Venable Jr.; his paternal grandparents, Dalbert Venable Sr. and Elsie Venable; and his maternal grandmother, Emma Guillory.
A little note from Mama:
To my sweet Adam, my firstborn baby,
I’m going to miss your calls and how you always asked about all of your siblings. I’ll miss seeing you and being able to tell you how much I love you.
I know you’re now in heaven with our Lord, Jesus Christ — free from all suffering, pain, and loneliness. You don’t have to struggle or be without a home ever again. Now you have an eternal home in heaven, surrounded by peace and love.
Love always,
Mom
