Eldon L. Brumenschenkel passed away peacefully at Heritage Oaks of Englewood, Florida, on January 31, 2021.
Eldon was born the youngest of seven children to Helen Christine (Michaels) and Thomas Ulrich Brumenschenkel on February 12, 1936 and raised on their family farm. The property is now known as “Spartan Fields” on Hickory Lane in Mansfield, Ohio. Eldon was a 1954 graduate of Madison High School. He pursued his masonry apprenticeship, encouraged by Phillip Brumenschenkel, his cousin. He married Anita Elizabeth (Scheel) Brumenschenkel on September 13, 1958. Eldon became a certified a journeyman mason in December 1959 and founded B & S Masonry partnership with Stefan Storch in April 1962, until Storch’s passing on January 31, 1971. Eldon continued pursuing masonry craftsmanship and general construction professionally and personally on numerous projects until retirement in May 2001 as sole proprietor of B & S Masonry.
Eldon and Anita raised their family and lived on Lewis Road, Ontario, Ohio, for fifty-five years from 1962 to 2017. Eldon most enjoyed the fellowship and visiting with his family and friends, sharing his childhood and life experiences, adventures, laughter and creating many cherished memories with picnic gatherings on their property in Ontario, Ohio. Eldon was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.
He is survived by his wife of 62+ years, Anita of Port Charlotte, Florida; his children, Mark Brumenschenkel (Lori) of Westerville, Ohio, Tania Koclejda (Jean-Luc) of Port Charlotte, Florida and Thomas E. Brumenschenkel of Ontario, Ohio; his siblings, Helen Riggenbach of Mansfield, Ohio, and Thomas R. Brumenschenkel of Bellville, Ohio; his grandchildren, Amanda Cabaña, Eric Brumenschenkel, and Stephan Koclejda; two step-grandchildren, Audray Moscetti Koclejda and Alexandra Koclejda; and great-grandchildren, Taylor Cabaña, Theodore Cabaña and Ilaria Moscetti. Eldon was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Geraldine Dunkle, John Brumenschenkel, Paul Brumenschenkel and Marilyn Kemp.
The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Friday, June 4, 2021, the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road with a memorial service immediately following at 11:00 a.m. He will be interred at Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Moffitt Cancer Center or Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (pancan.org).
