Alice Geraldine Corn

On May 26th, our loving Mom and Grandmother, Alice Geraldine Corn, went home to be with the Lord and her loving husband of 70 years.

She was born to the late Charlie and Leola Hyder on September 2nd, 1927,  she was the 9th child out of 11 children.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Millard C. Corn, Sr. and a daughter, Louis Geraldine Corn.

She is survived by three children: daughter, Betty Janne Brown and late husband, Steve; son, Millard C. Corn, Jr. and wife, Beth; and daughter, Rita Maria Shaffer and husband, David; grandchildren: Marie Corn and her husband, Greg; Darrell Corn, Chris Corn and wife, Stephanie, Travis Corn and wife, Melissa, and Cassandra Shaffer; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Brian, Brittney, Peyton, Whitney, Tyler, and Brianna; and great-great grandchildren, Brooke and Isaiah.

She worked at Chipman Hosiery Mill for a number of years.  She loved her family, the Lord, and the church and was always willing to lend a hand to neighbors when they needed it, cooking a meal or taking food over.  She loved her flowers, gardening and watching her blue bird’s nest each year. She always quoted scripture and would say, “Pray and the Lord will help you.” When she got ready to leave, there was always a hug, a kiss, and an “I love you” followed by, “Be good, and don’t get in trouble!!” The sayings we all remember the most, in her own words, will be, “What carry us through the hard days ahead” and “Always remember to hang on to the Lord, and He will get you through.”  She was a loving Mother Grandmother and Great grandmother and will be truly missed by all!
