Joan “Jean” T. Nickele nee Koop, passed on March 5, 2021. Beloved wife of Albert J. Nickele for 69 wonderful years. Devoted mother to Mary (Larry) Wand, Margaret (Peter) Sitkowski, Patricia (David) Ott, Joseph (Kate), Claudia (Norm) Kadivnik, and the late John A. (Mary). Cherished grandmother to Robert (Terri) Wand, Angela Wand, Katherine (Elliot) Luke, Jim, and Jack Nickele, Joseph (Kadrina), Daniel, Jacqueline Ott, Angelo and Michaeleen Nickele, and David Kadivnik. Adored great-grandmother of Cooper Wand. Joan was preceded in death by her parents Elizabeth and Philip C. Koop, her in-laws; the late Angelina and Angelo Nickele, her cherished son John Albert Nickele, sister Dorothy (Fred) Runge, brother Philip (JoAnne) Koop, Sister-in-law Dorothy Koop, brother-in-laws John L. Nickele, and Sam (Mary) Nickele of Arizona. Joan is survived by her brother Richard Koop, and sister-in-law Sr. Mary Angelita Nickele O.P. and many cherished nieces and nephews of the Runge, Koop, and Nickele families. Jean was part of the Women’s Health Initiative through Northwestern Hospital. She was an avid golfer that won many distinguished awards, also a previous member of Queen of All Saints Women’s Golf League. A visitation will be held, Friday, March 12, 2021, at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 6150 N. Cicero Ave. Chicago IL from 9:00am to 11:30am.A Funeral Mass will follow at St. Mary of the Woods Parish at Noon. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Heartland Hospice, 1110 W Lake Cook Rd, Suite 130 Buffalo Grove, IL 60089. For more information please call the funeral home 773-736-3833.
