Pauline R. Drew, 92, of Springfield died peacefully at 4:30 AM Sunday, February 14 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born in Joliet IL on November 21 to Paul and Rosa Mapes. She married John W. Drew on May 31, 1952.
She was preceded in death by parents and son Laurence Drew.
Survivors include her husband of 69 years, her sister Muriel LaVanne and her four children, Charles Drew, Elizabeth Drew, Lynann Burns and Laura Carroll, and four grandchildren.
Pauline was a teacher in the Peoria IL school district for 27 years. She was a member of Forrest Hill United Methodist Church in Peoria until she moved to Springfield in 2011 when she became a member of the Chatham United Methodist Church.
Pauline was a graduate of Illinois State University (where she met her husband) and graduated in the Class of 51 with a degree in education. She enjoyed music, played the piano, and sang in school and church choirs. Pauline had the gift of hospitality and enjoyed entertaining friends and family. She loved to travel in the US and abroad. Her favorite destination was the beach of Anna Maria Island FL where hunting for seashells was her favorite sport.
Private family services will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Pontiac IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Animal Protective League or St Jude.
