Karen Evans, 83, of Springville, Iowa, passed away on Monday, Jan. 23, 2023, at her home. In agreement with Karen’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Family will greet friends and family from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, Iowa. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 30, at the funeral home, with an additional visitation one hour prior to service. Mike Schultz will officiate. A private family burial will be held at Springville Cemetery in Springville. A celebration of Karen’s life will begin at 1 p.m. Monday at Sally’s on Broadway in Springville.

Karen was born on April 23, 1939, in Iowa City, the daughter of Roy P. and Gladys (Moore) Lenz. She was a graduate of Iowa City High School. On March 4, 1960, Karen was united in marriage to Terry Wayne Evans in Iowa City. To this union, four children were born, Rick, Vickie, Randy and Ryan. Karen worked for Rockwell Collins for 17 years, and the Hy-Vee Garden Center for six years. Her most important job was being a wonderful mother and grandmother. Karen was the founder and past president of the Springville Garden Club. She was a Cub Scout leader, Camp Fire leader, past president of the Social Sorority (Beta Sigma Phi), and a member of local card clubs. She enjoyed fishing, camping, dancing, gardening and cooking. Most of all, Karen loved being with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Karen is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband of almost 63 years, Terry Evans of Springville; four children, Rick (Janet) Evans of Springville, Vickie (Steve) Fish of Marion, Randy (Marcia) Evans of North Liberty and Ryan (Shelly) Evans of Tiffin, Iowa; 13 grandchildren and their spouses; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Gladys Lenz; and twin sister, Kay Myers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Karen’s memory may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date.
