Beryl M. Whittemore, 92, of Palatine passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2025.
She was the beloved wife of the late Robert C. Whittemore, who passed away in 1990.
Born May 27, 1933 in Chicago, she was the daughter of the late James and Beryl (Scherffius) Buckley. Beryl was a graduate of Taft High School in Chicago, Illinois. On April 16, 1955 she married Robert Whittemore and they were happily married for 35 years.
Beryl was active in the St. Thomas of Villanova Church Women’s Guild and served as a Eucharistic minister for many years. She joined various bowling and golf leagues. Beryl’s passion was tending to her flowers for which she possessed a green thumb to cultivate her houseplants and outdoor gardens.
Beryl is survived by four daughters: Janet (James) Drexler of Tucson, AZ, Jean (Ronald) Adams of Lithia, FL, Jeri (Michael) Teesch of Bartlett, IL, and Jami (Quin) Brewer of Sault St Marie, MI. She was the beloved grandmother of seven grandchildren: Patrick Brewer, Derek Brewer, Philip Brewer, Stephanie Brewer, Jeremy Adams, Jacob (Ilyssa) Drexler, and Benjamin Drexler.
She is also survived by her sister Bonnie (Wescott) Leline and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her family will receive visitors and friends on Friday, December 5, 2025 at 9:00 am with a funeral mass to follow at 10:00 am at St.Thomas of Villanova Catholic Church in Palatine, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Salvation Army would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home. For info, 847-359-8020.
