ARNAUDVILLE ~ Funeral services will be held Monday, November 3, 2025 at a 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Francis Regis Catholic Church in Arnaudville for Charles Emmett Duplechain, Sr., age 82, who passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at Opelousas General Health System in Opelousas.
Interment will be in St. Francis Regis Cemetery in Arnaudville. The Rev. Travis Abadie, pastor of St. Francis Regis Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.
Musical selections will be provided by Debbie Leblanc, accompanied by Phyllis Simar on the organ. The songs will be Amazing Grace, Only In God, I Am the Bread of Life, Take My Hand Precious Lord, and Go Rest High on that Mountain.
Charles, a native of Port Barre and longtime resident of Arnaudville. A devout member of St. Francis Regis Catholic Church, where he served with dedication as part of the Altar Society.
Charles was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus and brought joy to many through his accordion playing. He found peace and purpose outdoors – whether it was cutting grass, breathing in fresh air, or simply being in nature. Holidays held a special place in his heart; he embraced each celebration with infectious enthusiasm and warmth. He was a devoted husband and father who adored his grandchildren. He loved attending their sporting events or activities. He was a proud Grandpa!!
He will be deeply missed by all who knew his kindness, his steady faith, and the simple pleasures he loved so much.
Survivors include his wife, Jackie Knott Duplechain; one son Charlie Duplechain and his wife, Dawna, of Arnaudville; one daughter, Jeanne Tarver and her husband, Matt, of Sunset; three grandchildren; Jillian Duplechain, Phoebe Duplechain, and Gabrielle Tarver; two sisters, Margary Guilbeaux, and Edia Nezat; one sister-in-law, Mary Dieutto; one brother-in-law, Ronnie Soileau of Ville Platte.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin Joseph Duplechain and the former, Beaulah Hebert; three brothers, Ervin Dievtto, Leroy Duplechain and his wife, Gail, and Paul Duplechain; one sister, Roma Gail Soileau; two brothers-in-law, U.C. Guilbeaux, and Gene Nezat.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Sunday and will continue from 7:00 a.m. until service time on Monday.
Pallbearers will be Dale Duplechain, Emmett Duplechain, Charlie Duplechain, Jr. Matt Tarvew, Robert Bergeron, and Wayne Bergeron.
