Jean Lewis

Jean Adams Lewis, a beacon of love and strength, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025, in Damascus, Virginia, at the age of 85. Born on August 6, 1940, Jean’s life was a tapestry of devotion to her family, her church, and her many passions.

The daughter of the late Lee Adams and Mildred Johnson Widener, and stepdaughter to the late Dale Widener, Jean was a family woman through and through. Her spirit was anchored by the love of her life, the late Rodger Lewis, and together they created a legacy of love and commitment. Jean’s sister, Sue Musick and brother, Glenn Adams, who predeceased her, shared many of life’s joys and sorrows with her. She is survived by her loving sister, Ann Thomas, and her dear friend Linda McMurray, who will all cherish her memory.

Jean’s pride and joy were her daughters, Pamela Lewis, Kimberly Lewis, and Leigh Ann Zollo (married to Lyle). She raised them with an unwavering dedication. Her grandchildren, Bethany Zollo, Jesse Hoskins, Kyra Power, Nick Zollo, and Alyssa Duckworth, along with Brennon Lewis, were the light of her life. Jean’s great-grandchildren, Adlee Thomas, Elijah Power, and Stormi Zollo, brought her immense happiness in her later years.

A long-standing member of the Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren, Jean’s faith was a cornerstone of her existence. She was a woman of many talents, with interests that ranged from canning and sewing to gardening and candy making. Jean’s involvement in her children’s activities was a testament to her dedication to their happiness and well-being.

A gathering for friends and family will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM. A committal service will follow at Jackson-Lewis Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren in memory of Jean.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Gentiva Hospice for all the kind and compassionate care shown to Jean during her time of need.
