Pedro “Pete” Nunez III
September 1, 1983 – September 1, 2025
Pedro Nunez III, known to those who loved him as Pete or PJ, passed away unexpectedly on his 42nd birthday, September 1, 2025. He left this world doing what he loved most—riding his bike alongside Andrea, his partner (fiancée) of the past ten years.
Pedro was born in San Antonio, Texas, to Pedro Nunez II and Josephina (Saenz) Nunez, and grew up in Bay City. For the past four years, he worked at Cracker Barrel, where he truly enjoyed his job and the people around him.
Faith was an important part of Pedro’s life. He carried a picture of Jesus in his wallet everywhere he went and found comfort in prayer and reading the Bible. He was known as a good, kindhearted man—someone who worked hard, loved deeply, and would do anything for anyone.
He loved the outdoors. Especially biking, camping, bonfires, golfing, and being in the water—and was happiest when staying busy. At home, he doted on his pets: his dog, Roscoe, and three cats that, over time, won his heart. He was Andrea’s biggest supporter, especially during karaoke nights, and loved watching UFC, wrestling, and live concerts, with a music taste that spanned from ICP to Taylor Swift, pop to country. Food was another of his joys, whether it was a quick stop at a favorite fast-food spot or a sit-down meal at a nice restaurant with his mother, fiancée, and bonus daughter. He also had a gift for making people laugh with his corny dad jokes and his movie and music references.
Pedro will be remembered as a devoted son and mama’s boy, a caring brother, a proud uncle, and as someone who loved his greatest adventure partner in life Andrea, although not married he always referred to her as wife and Graciela as his daughter, as if she were his own.
He is survived by his mother, Josephina Nunez; siblings Lupe (Ralph) Garcia, Jesse (Grace) Gonzalez, Elisa Medina, Gloria, Fernando Diaz, and sisters-in-law: Kelly Saenz; Donna Saenz, Andrea and her daughter, Graciella; his dog Roscoe and three cats; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family from both his and Andrea’s sides. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Tony Saenz, Nicky Saenz, Elvira “Vida” Saldana, and Daniel Gonzalez (survived by fiancée Deb Morse).
Family and friends will gather at Ambrose Funeral Home, 1200 Garfield Ave., Bay City, MI 48708 on Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Family sharing and stories will then take place at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
