John Ruhaak

John Earl Ruhaak, 95, of Chicago, Illinois, peacefully passed away, September 6, 2025. 

He was the longest serving vice-president at United Airlines, before retiring and transitioning into his second career as an actor, gracing the stage at the Goodman, Victory Gardens, and Steppenwolf theatres. He was an adventurous traveler, and was among the oldest to explore Antarctica, a month short of his 94th birthday. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia, his children Christina Ruhaak and Peter Lubliner, son-in-law Preston Smead, daughter-in-law Maria Lubliner; and two beloved granddaughters, Sophie and Cecily Byrd Smead.

Services on Friday, September 12, 2025 at St. Clement Church at 642 W. Deming Pl., Chicago, Illinois 60614. Visitation at 9:00 AM, followed by Mass at 10:00 AM.
