NV Energy reports multiple power outages Wednesday evening affecting 2,300 customers in Carson City. According to the utility’s website, the cause of the outages is under investigation and noted there’s not an estimated time of restoration.
There were several lightning strikes around the capital city just before 7 p.m., including one that may have caused a transformer to go out in the area of the Nevada State Railroad Museum in the 2100 block of South Carson Street.
Carson City Fire Department firefighters checked out the area after a reporting party called Carson City dispatch advising there was a lightning strike followed by a power outage in the area of the museum. NV Energy was contacted by CCFD and were advised of the outage and transformer.
Elsewhere, the utility reports 230 customers without power in Douglas County, two customers in Lyon County, 12 customers in Storey County and 409 customers in Washoe County.
