Shirley Mae Garner, 75 years of age, of Burns, TN, passed away July 14, 2025 at NHC of Dickson.
She was born in Union, Ohio, August 1, 1949, to the late Ralph Emerson and Sarah Ellen (Ullery) Zellers. Shirley was an avid reader and could finish a book in just a few hours. She loved to watch the birds from her porch or windows and watching the Hallmark channel and movies. She loved her cat Sophie and we affectionately called her the cat lady of Burns for taking in so many stray kitties. We will all miss her daily Facebook posts sharing inspiration and the weather. She loved her kids unconditionally and enjoyed being a Maw Maw and great Maw Maw. We will miss her but are comforted that she is at peace.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Carla (Lee) Farris, Kimberley (Jackie) Morris, and Cary Randal Garner; grandchildren, Mason Garner, Carissa Garner, Candace (Sam) Hughes, Kendall (Victoria) Morris, Allie (Austin) Kelley, Jessica (Jonathan) Swinehart, and Alex Farris; gret-grandchildren, Skyler, Riley, Liam, Grayson, Hudson, Maddie Rae, Kaysen, and Delilah Grace; brother, Jerry (Sarah) Zellers; several brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nephews, and nieces. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Gary Randal Garner; and siblings, William Zellers, Robert Zellers, Patricia Pittman, Betty Davis, Jack Zellers, and Terry Zellers.
The family would like to extend a special Thank You to her caregiver, Meghan Ryals.
Visitation and Funeral services will be at Dickson Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, July 16, 2025 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.; and will resume on Thursday, July 17, 2025, from 12:00 P.M. until hour of service.
