Darlene Adele Boy-Radford, a beacon of joy and curiosity, left the world on July 1, 2025. Born on December 18, 1955, in Ontario, Canada, Darlene embarked on a vibrant journey that took her all over the world and then nestled her in the wooded landscapes of Santa Rosa, California, where she resided at the time of her passing.

Darlene’s life was filled with exploration and creativity. Her adventures took her across the globe, where she immersed herself in diverse cultures, always eager to learn and appreciate the beauty of the world. A talented potter, she crafted pieces that were not just objects but expressions of her artistic spirit and love for culture and art.

In her community, Darlene was a cherished presence, dedicating her time and energy to enriching the lives of seniors. Her incredible sense of humor and caring nature brought light and laughter to those around her. Loyal and ever-curious, she was a friend who listened deeply and a companion who inspired others to see the world with fresh eyes. A lover of animals, she befriended all animals from wild seagulls to stray cats. She nursed many animals back to health and loved all the animals she adopted with her whole heart.

Darlene is survived by her loving husband, Dean Richard Simmons, and her step-daughter Madeline Simmons. She also leaves behind her cherished cat children, Nessie and Indy, who were as much a part of her heart as any human companion. A celebration of life party will take place at a later date.

Rumi was her favorite poet and these quotes are helping us with our solace-

“Beauty surrounds us, but usually we need to be walking in a garden to know it.”

“Do not grieve. Anything you lose comes round in another form.”
