Ethel Irene Cain (Finley) Obituary
Ethel Cain returned home to our Heavenly Father Saturday evening July 5, 2025 peacefully at home with family.
Ethel was born July 7, 1934 in Bismarck, North Dakota. She lived and grew up in Forest River, North Dakota. Graduated from Forest River High School. Continued her education at University of North Dakota and graduated top of her class.
After finding her way to Arizona, she worked as a accountant but her greatest work was becoming a foster parent to many. The girls she raised stayed with her and loved her to this day. She was an Angel sent to all of us. She later found the man of her dreams and married Paul Daniel Cain (Danny) May 20, 1980. He quickly became our dad who treasure, loved and cared for her the rest of her life. 45 years. She was a wife, mom to many, grandma and great grandma. Ethel is survived by her husband Danny Cain, Leslie Carroll (niece), Shane Carroll (nephew) and all her children to many to name lol
She was known for her love of kids, dogs and cats! She was an exceptional artist and loved to paint. She also loved writing and participating in plays. This passion began way back in high school and she brought it home to all of us.
In 1982 Ethel and Danny moved to Tonto Village in Payson, Arizona and bought their life adventure The Double D Bar and Restaurant. They owned for 38 years.
She loved the Double D and all the people who grew up with her here in the village. Extended our family even greater. At the D she was know as “Ethel the pool shark” competitive and loved playing in tournaments she put on. She played her last game at the age of 89. In the early years she wrote many humorous plays and the locals played a part in. They were great!
Ethel was loved by so many and will be truly missed by us all.
Celebration of life will be held at the Double D. Date has not been set yet as we are taking her home to rest with her parents and family in North Dakota.
Rest in peace mom
Love, Tammy
