Mick Christians passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, at his home in Windom, MN.
Eddison “Mick” Christians celebrated a wonderful life filled with joy and adventure. Born on January 6, 1935, in Adrian, Minnesota, Mick’s journey began on a charming farm nestled between Adrian and Little Rock, Iowa. He rode his trusty horse to Country School for several years before graduating from Ellsworth High School with the class of 1952.
Mick served in the Army from 1955-57, where he played a key role in developing the first guided missile system for the armed forces. From 1957-60, he pursued his education at Worthington Junior College and Mankato State College, earning a degree in mathematics and business, setting the stage for a bright future.
On June 20, 1959, Mick married Barbara Quiring at the Church of Christ in Worthington, Minnesota. Their union was blessed with two wonderful children, Susan and David, who brought immense joy to their lives. After gaining experience with larger chemical and feed companies, Mick’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to exciting ventures. He purchased the State Theater and The Travel Place in Windom, Minnesota, and founded Christians Real Estate as a realtor and broker. The family shared numerous travel adventures while the kids were young, traveling all over the United States via automobile. In 1995, Mick sold the businesses and for the next 27 years, Mick and Barb enjoyed delightful winters in sunny Mesa, Arizona, creating beautiful memories together. Mick loved sharing good meals, shooting pool, golfing, tracking the stock market, and discussing the Vikings offense.
In 2019, Mick faced the challenge of Alzheimer’s disease with courage. After celebrating his 90th birthday in January 2025, Mick’s physical health began to change, but his spirit remained bright. The family is incredibly thankful for the compassionate care Mick received from Engaged Home Health Care, Good Samaritan Nurses and Therapists, and Moments Hospice, along with the generous support for the Veterans Administration, which made his journey a little easier.
Mick is lovingly remembered by his wife of nearly 66 years, Barbara Christians of Windom; two children, Susan (Peter) Brown of Saint Paul, and David (Angie) Christians of Delano, along with six wonderful grandchildren, Matt, Mike, Andy, Ryan, Max, and Sabrina; great-grandchildren, Audrey, Luca, Hazel, Nora and Kalvin.
Mick was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Harm and Pearl Christians; brothers, Orville and Harlan Christians; sisters Beverly Leemkuil and Phyllis Christians; as well as brother-in-law, Daryl Quiring; sister-in-law, Marianne Armstrong; and parents-in-law, Otto and Anna Quiring.
His legacy of love and joy will always remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
