Willard Riggs, Jr.

RIGGS— Mr. Willard M. Riggs, Jr., 94, of Yulee, Florida passed away Sunday June 15, 2025 in Haven of Orange Park, Florida. He had resided in Yulee for many years.

Born June 15, 1931 in McVeigh, Kentucky to coalminers, Sybil and Willard Riggs, Sr. After high school Willard served in the US Navy as an aircraft firefighting and rescue team. Much of his career was as a commercial contract salesman for Sears and he retired after many years of dedicated service. After retirement Willard opened a flea market business.

Willard loved Gaither’s gospel and country music, fishing and spending time with friends. But he truly loved his country, and his family brought him the most joy.

Willard is survived by his three children: Victoria Miller, Raymond Riggs, and Willard Riggs, III along with five grandchildren and five great grandchildren, also brother Leon Riggs, 92 years old, and sister Maybell Runyon, 102 years old, both of Kentucky.

In loving memory, deceased wife, Katherine Riggs, 89 years old, married 71 blessed years before her passing on September 22, 2024, and deceased daughter Cynthia Greer, 53 years old who passed on January 18, 2011.

Funeral services in celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday January 24, 2025, in the chapel of Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 111 Blanding Boulevard, Orange Park, FL with Dr. Patrick Martin officiating. The family will greet friends from 10:00 AM until the hour of service at the funeral home on Tuesday morning. Willard will be laid to rest with his wife in the Garden of the Fountain following the service.
