Angeline Saka-Reich

Angeline passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on May 22, 2025. She was born in Chicago, Illinois.

She is survived by her daughter, Gina Saka; husband, Stephan Saka; sister, Alice Simos; niece and goddaughter, Kimberly Totaro; great-nieces, Maisie Totaro-Kunlel and Jane Totaro; niece and nephew, Brian and Kim Saka.

Angeline was a woman of many talents and passions. She volunteered with the USO, was an accomplished pianist, and was invited to perform with acclaimed jazz musician Ramsey Lewis during her time at Wells High School. The Chicago Tribune once approached her to work as a cartoonist—one of many testaments to her creativity.

She loved music and dancing. Along with spending time with family and friends. She was a devoted animal lover, especially to her beloved cat, Odin. Known for her radiant smile and warm sense of humor, she brought light into every room she entered. One of Angeline’s most remarkable qualities was her deep and unwavering gratitude—she truly appreciated the smallest gestures, whether a letter, a kind word or a simple gift! She never took love for granted and made those around her feel special, valued and remembered. Her ability to find joy in life’s simple moments was a gift to everyone who knew her.

A Memorial Service will be held June 7th, 2025 at 12pm at the Martha Washington, 2324 W. Irving Park Road, Chicago.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Angeline to the American Lung Association, supporting lung cancer research and honoring her legacy: Donate – American Lung Association
