Henry Earl Pope, 79, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 7, 2021, in Weatherford, Texas after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born October 24, 1941, in Waurika, Oklahoma to Henry and Beatrice Pope.
Visitation: 11am, Monday, October 11, 2021, at Wiley Funeral Home Chapel in Granbury, Texas. Service following at 12pm. Committal Service: Holly Hills, Granbury, Texas.
Henry worked at The Courthouse Market Downtown Fort Worth for over 30 years and then worked at Bransom’s Grocery Store in Burleson until he retired. He had many joys in life other than work. He loved music, playing his guitar and was a member of the Cedar Point Music Group. Henry and his horse Sugar, who is 37 years old, spent many years together and were members of the Poor Boy Riding Club. They won numerous belt buckles and ribbons competing in many different events such as barrel racing and pole bending. Mowing the yard and yard work was one of his favorite hobbies, for he didn’t view it as work. He also enjoyed wood working, as he made cedar benches, tables, clocks, and Hope Chests for his great-granddaughters.
Henry is preceded in death by wife, Sandra Pope and son Kyle Pope.
Henry leaves behind to cherish his memory, children, Kevin Pope, Karen Pope and husband Ken Hendricks; daughter-in-law, Sonya Pope; brother, Tollie Pope; sisters, Kolene Dean and husband Frank, Sandra Coursey and husband Dale; Companion, Mary Nieman and her children, Bobby Nieman and wife Lori, Sherrie Gentry and husband Steve, Jerry Nieman; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and other extended family.
