Marie Kennedy Kinkade passed away on January 5, 2025, at her residence in Alameda, California.

Marie is survived by her husband Paul A. Peterson, her brother, Daniel VonWyck Kinkade and his wife, Patricia Lindsay Kinkade of Greensboro, North Carolina; two great-nephews, Daniel VonWyck Kinkade III of Atlanta, Georgia and Elijah Kinkade of Boston, Massachusetts; nephew Stephen T. Bright of Las Vegas, Nevada, and niece Sarah L. Bright of Atlanta, Georgia. She is also survived by loving cousins and In-laws.

Marie was born on May 26, 1942, in Manhattan, New York to Harold James Kinkade and Mary Teresa Kennedy, and grew up in Elmira, New York, where she studied at Elmira Free Academy. She attended a number of universities in New York, North Carolina, Florida, and California, her formal education culminating in an MBA degree earned from the University of San Francisco. After working for Greyhound and the FDIC, she joined the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as a Consumer Safety Officer in 1990, where she retired after a 20-year career.

Marie enjoyed the opera and symphony. She served as an usher at the San Francisco Opera House for years, acquiring many friends there. She was a Eucharistic Minister at her church. She gave generously to Catholic Charities and animas support groups. She enjoyed taking exercise classes. She was a world traveler and keen observer of news and politics.

Marie was of Irish and Scottish decent. She was very proud of her great-grandfather, Daniel Kennedy, who founded Kennedy Valve Manufacturing Co. She was always on the lookout for Kennedy fire hydrants wherever she traveled.

Marie will be greatly missed by relatives, friends, neighbors, and her beloved cats, Blackie and Barley.

Funeral services Wednesday January 15, 2025, at 2:00pm at the Alameda Funeral and Cremation Services chapel, 1415 Oak Street, Alameda, with Deacon David Young, Officiating, Harry Greer, Funeral Director (FDR-745), Entombment services Thursday January 16, 2025, at 11:00am at the Christ the Light Cathedral in Oakland, California.
